A Palm And A Promise

As many waved palm braches today, did you know that the Bible says, “The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree”? I love this because, interestingly,  the palm tree is considered an evergreen. It will flourish as long as the head remains intact and is not cut off The head of the palm IS it’s source, just as the Head of the church is Christ. .

What a fit emblem of the identity and condition of those that believe! “For in Scripture it says: See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame. Now to you who believe, this stone [Jesus] is precious.” (emphasis mine)

He became that Vital Head, not at the palm-and-praise entry into Jerusalem celebrated today; but rather when He was crucified, buried and rose. .

Dear friends, let’s believe it:

He is Precious, our Source of Life – our palm branch needs to be in Him.

. “Whosever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”

“‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Hosanna in the highest!”

(A Psalm sung during Passover and quoted in part as they waved the braches)

“Open to me the gates of righteousness, that I may enter through them and give thanks to the Lord.

This is the gate of the Lord; the righteous shall enter through it.

I thank you that you have answered me and have become my salvation.

The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.

This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’”
