“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.” Ps. 143:8

🙏🏻My Father, you are patient and kind; You do not envy or boast; You are not arrogant or rude.

Jesus, you do not insist on Your own way; You are not irritable or resentful; Abba, You do not rejoice at wrongdoing, but You rejoice with the truth….((and you make ALL things work out in the end toward good.))

My Father, dear Father, You bear all things, believe all things, hope all things, endure all things….for me.

Jesus You never end…..
And I am IN You and You are IN me………Here, I am safe and secure and protected….nothing can separate me from Your love….nothing and no one, not even my own doubts.

(It helps me sometimes to pray His words 😊 especially when it is hard to find words of my own. I hope this prayer encourages you too. ((1 Cor 13 paraphrased with Gods name in the place of the words for love……for God IS love…..in all He is and all He does. Also, references to Romans 8 and Galatians 4:6.)))

Spirit

Tether me only to You, Holy Spirit….because in You alone will I fully be alive – only You can bring out Your Triune purpose in me…..and in You alone will I be able to fully allow others that same gracious, fertile ground……AND There, we all *together* (blessed unity!) will have interactions that will be as organic as multiple branches in Your single, Living Vine. 🌿🍇

((Keep me on the other hand, from being dependent on myself or others – detached and in heart, lifeless…..I would rather be free and real and full of Your life.))

Amen.

“Beware of being in bondage to yourself or other people. Oppression and depression never come from the Holy Spirit of God. He never oppresses, He convicts and comforts. The spirit of God is always the Spirit of liberty.” ~ Oswald Chambers

“….the unity in the Spirit in the bond of peace.” ~ Eph. 4:3

May your heart be blessed,

Just Breathe

Breathe in:
Father, you love and accept me,

🍃

Breathe out:
All the time, no matter what.

Dear friends, I hope this anchors your souls and lifts your spirits.

~Romans 8~

I Need You

Father, it is so easy for me to drift from you – to forget that you are all I need, that You are the One who will satisfy all those empty spaces I clamor to fill. …….Thank you for your faithful and patient presence in my life – always drawing me back with your comforting staff. .

I need you. I really need You.

Lead me to those green truths my soul is lacking, so I can feast and lay hold of You that much more. May You increase, and may what I think “I” need become less important.
To You be the glory.
Amen.

The Fellowship of Suffering ~ A Divine Exchange

Open my eyes to clearly see;
the path You took of humility.

Bend my ears to every sound;
Your silence cried out when beaten down.

Enhance my taste to every good
that joy in pain You understood.

Train my scent and oil my prayer –
a sweet smelling savor to break that snare.

Then full my arms to Thee embrace
as I fellowship in sufferings face to face.

“Consider Him who endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself, lest you be weary and faint in Your mind.” ~Hebrews 12:3

Saturated

Lord Jesus, thank You that You have made it possible for us to fully know You. We *want* to fully know you as you have fully known us – help us to take advantage of this gift. .

Help us, amidst all the distrations we have, to sit at Your feet and allow Your Spirit to show us wondrous things from Your words – things that our *own* eyes and ears cannot perceive. There, may Your glory transform us like the sun transforms the spring bud – opening it’s purpose. While open, move us, dear Lord, to spill all of value and “waste” it at Your feet, wiping it with our hair. .

May this fill the broken world with the fragrance of Your glory, and leave our fellow man with a wonder and a thirst that You are very ready to fill.

Because……….of You, and through You, and to You, are all things. And to You be the glory for ever. Amen.

Seasons of Hardship

There is something to be said about the phrase “go with the flow.” The words themselves conjure up the feeling of liberation, ease, and rest. ((I love how nature is a perfect picture of this.)) But how easy it is instead to allow the “flow” to wisk us into a place of fear, impending doom, and resistance.

Actually, when the flow of a dark season has entered my life, I think all of the above emotions have been in my mind at ONCE – wouldn’t you agree? And it is at those times that we have choices – often a continuous battle – as to which emotions we will feed or “go” with. God understands our deep grief and IN that, He wants us to still be free.

Go with this: God wants us to find rest and He wants to show us “great and mighty things” – let’s remember that. He wants us to lean fully upon His life {raft} as the troubled waters churn. And it is There, as we are leaning upon Him that we find the treasure of the trial we could only find if we were close enough and listening with our ear cupped close to His words.

Are you facing a dark season in your life? Allow the season to run its course, knowing there will be a spring to your winter. Know that it is only under a dark hard ground that diamonds, rubies, amethyst, and emeralds are mined. Ask God to show you what the precious stones of your trial are – i.e. what is it that He may want you to see about yourself that you haven’t been able to see; what is it that He may want you to see about loving others more; what is it about Him (our TRUEST Treasure) that you may not understand, that could draw you nearer to Him?

Tell Him that you don’t want to miss the treasure/good He has for you in the hardship – whether you see it in time or in eternity.

~~  I will give you the treasures of darkness And hidden wealth of secret places, So that you may know that it is I, The LORD, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name.  Is 45:3  ~~

Mind-Numbing Ruminations

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest….”

Several years back, I was standing on the precipice of an immense life change, carrying a weight of confusion and multiple emotions.  Our entire social network was pulled out from under us, and almost everything we believed was henceforth put on the table for questioning.  My thoughts did not know where to stop or start.

During that time we “got away” to a vacation on Banderas Bay, a beautiful alcove surrounded by the Pacific. One morning, I was walking on the beach, picking up rocks, and ruminating on the same heavy thoughts. I was mentally worn.

While in wordless prayer, God brought to my mind this well-known verse and used my surroundings for a perfect word-picture:

“Casting all your care upon Him for He cares for you.”

…..So there was little me, at the edge of the big-wide ocean with a rock that I had been looking at intently and carefully massaging in my hand. Casting…….
“What does it mean to cast?,” I thought as I looked at the stone weighing down my hand.
……I wound up a pitch…..Followed through, and released……….

img_6927

When I cast it into the ocean, the feel of it leaving my hand
And the sight of it dropping into the vast waters….
The satisfying sound of its fall……
The disappearing……………………
That wonderful disappearing…………
Where I could no longer carry it or feel it anymore….
Where I could no longer SEE its lines and colors…….
helped me then, and in days to come,

to release the actual stones weighing down my mind;

to release them into HIM, where their weight is rightly measured and beautifully hidden;

to release them upon His vast character and consuming love…… for me, for you, and for those we need to forgive.

May we live the blessing of a life that is light and free.

“….Walk with Me and work with Me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with Me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” – Jesus

Definition of “Casting”: from Strong’s 1997 = epiriptó:  to throw upon, place upon, to throw away, throw off to cast upon, give up to, God.

Fitting quote: “If I must seek an identity outside of myself, then the accumulation of wealth, power, and honors allures me. Or I may find my center of gravity in interpersonal relationships. Ironically, the church itself [and other relationships] can stroke [the sin nature] by conferring, and withholding honors, offering pride of place based on performance, and creating an illusion of status by rank and pecking order. When belonging to an elite group eclipses the love of God, when I draw life and meaning from any source other than my belovedness, I am spiritually dead. When God gets relegated to second place behind any bauble or trinket, I have swapped the pearl of great price for painted fragments of glass.” – Manning

Prayer Challenge

In my prayers of deepest longing,

I ask You to saturate, invade, take over.

~~

And I yield to You my dearest belongings;

my fears and speeding thoughts by your love, lowered.

~~

Here poised, can I pray without condition –

willing,
surrendered to face

pain for Your end, all-wise?

~~

And, to set my face steadfast –

resting,
knowing Your compassion overwhelms all hurt,

And You, Yourself, shall be the prize?
